Match Report: VCFF end winless run with comeback home win over Deportivo Alavés (2-1)

Valencia CF Femenino ended a five game winless run with a second-half comeback cancelling out Gema’s early opener to Deportivo Alavés thanks to María Portales and Fiama’s second half strikes in the 52nd and 70thminutes respectively.    

Valencia CF Femenino were off to a poor start second half strikes after conceding a goal via a Gema direct corner kick only four minutes inside the first half to make it 0-1 to Deportivo Alavés Femenino.

Valencia CF Femenino were forced to dig deep to come back from 0-1 down as Deportivo Alaves were well organised and positioned on the pitch.

Valencia CF Femenino tried to probe down the wings to exploit Chacón’s speed and the gaps in behind the opposition’s backline trying to hit the opposition with dangerous crosses from the channels into the box.  

Fiamma and Bea Beltrán had a couple of meaningful long range efforts as Valencia CF Feminino kept on pushing for the equaliser in the closing stages of the opening minutes. Alas, Valencia CF trailed Deportivo Alavés by a 0-1 scoreline at the break.

Valencia CF Femenino came out switched on better positioned and knocking the ball about with fluidity which bore fruit in the 52nd minute with powerful low drive inside the left post from María Portales past Larqué to come back on level terms.

The equaliser buoyed VCF Femenino who came mighty close to getting themselves in front over the hour mark though Fiamma, but her effort was palmed onto the crossbar by Larque and bounced off the goal-line.

Both side went all out searching for the winning goal and it was Fiamma who rose highest to meet a pin-point Asun’s cross from the right hand side and nodded the ball past Larqué to make it 2-1 for Valencia CF Femenino.  

Cosette pulled off a stunning reaction save to keep the scoreline at 2-1. Valencia CF femenino managed to counteract Deportivo Alavés’ momentum to claim a valiant comeback home win which sees Jesús Oliva’s outfit break a 5 game winless run.
